(WESTON, Wis., Dec. 7, 2018)– For its 18th consecutive year, K-tech Kleening is donating holiday food baskets to underprivileged families in Marathon County.
On Dec. 13, K-tech and the fifth-grade class at DC Everest Evergreen Elementary will assemble 400 food baskets.
What began 18 years ago with only 25 assembled baskets has since flourished as a community volunteer event, allowing K-tech to provide food to hundreds of local families in need each year.
The items for each basket are purchased by the funds donated during K-tech Charities’ annual Fairway Fore Food Golf Outing, held in September of each year. This year, more than $12,000 was raised at the tournament.
From pancake mix, ham and eggs to pasta, hamburger meat and potatoes, each basket contains enough ingredients for the recommended three meals a day, plus snacks.
With the help of community volunteers, the assembled food baskets will be distributed on Sunday, Dec. 16.
“The Christmas season is a time for giving to others, and for us and the many volunteers who help assemble and distribute the food baskets, this is our way of giving back to the community,” said President Craig Kersemeier of K-tech.
